BODY PIERCING & MODIFICATION

Today we are confronted by a "modern fashion statement" which is in fact a pagan practice. Body piercing has become a western fashion. Body modifications, such as belly rings, tongue studs, nose rings, eyebrow & multiple earrings, nipple rings, etc – are all part of the "modern world"

Many Christians follow these pagan-traditions. The fact also remains that when these pagan nations/tribes accept Christ, they abandon all "these body modification" practices. So, what went wrong?

The Word of God says:

Leviticus 19:28
“You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.”      

Being a follower of Christ, we are called to be holy, ( to be set apart for God's use). Excuses like “Everybody's doing it” is hardly a valid argument. God says NO, and no means no!

It is your choice whether you would obedience to God's Kingdom or if you want to be within the force of darkness.

Pagan nations abused their bodies. The false prophets of Baal abused their bodies.

1 Kings 18:28
"... cut themselves, as was their custom, with knives and lances, until the blood gushed out on them.”

Nose studs, belly & toe rings, tongue studs and eyebrow rings are common amongst the Hindus. Amazon tribes identify themselves with tattoos.

It was the custom of the Ishmaelite MEN to wear gold earrings. (Judges 8:24). 

It is therefore inappropriate for a Christian man to wear earrings. [We are no slaves, our only bond is Christ]

Galatians 5:1 
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.”

According to the Bible , a pierced ear is a sign to the public of permanent slavery.  When the Hebrews left Egypt, Moses, urged them to “take off the gold earrings … all the people took off their earrings … These are your gods, O Israel.” Exodus 32: 1-4 

Jacob, instructed his household to get rid of their idols and, to purify themselves and, they buried their earrings. 

Genesis 35:2 (NLT)
"So Jacob told everyone in his household, "Destroy your idols, wash yourselves, and put on clean clothing"

Genesis 35:4 (NLT)
"So they gave Jacob all their idols and their earrings, and he buried them beneath the tree near Shechem"

According to Dr Peter Dave Hammond ..."The interesting thing is that while so many Westerners rush into new age religions, body piercing and occultism, many millions in the tribes mentioned in Africa, South America, Asia and the Pacific islands, are being converted to Christ and are abandoning the body piercing practices of their pagan past. It is very clear who are the Christians and who are the pagans in these mission fields. The pagans wear little or no clothing and they engage in a variety of body scarification, body piercing and/or tattoos. On the other hand, the Christians are easily identifiable – they wear clothes and they don't engage in any body modification.  

Galatians 2:20 
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  

Of course, some older people will still have the scars and the holes – testimony of the pagan past before they were converted – but all earrings, eyebrow rings, nose rings and such like have been removed. Their children are free from these pagan disfigurements. It is unheard of in these areas for Christians to voluntarily pierce or tattoo their bodies. In fact, they are shocked when Western men visit them with ponytails and earrings"

What if I have multiple tattoos, which I can't remove?

Remember that ....

Jesus LOVES YOU very, very much... of course you can't remove your tattoos... but if you repent... and your heart is pure, GOD LOOKS @ your heart... and THAT is the MOST IMPORTANT of all.

This information is given to you so that you will have knowledge, and can understand where piercing, tattooing, etc comes from... they come from PAGAN NATIONS, not from the background of Christianity! No wonder the LORDS says in:

Hosea 4:6
"My people are being destroyed because they don't know me..."
