BAPTISM

"To be baptised means to be included in Christ's death. Have you been truly baptized?"

-  Watchman Nee, Sentinel Kulp -

Baptism is the believers sign to the world, showing our personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

As a baby Jesus was dedicated to God by His parents (Luke 2:22), and baptized as a adult. (Matthew 3:15-17)

Reflecting on what God did for us IN Christ

We are called followers. We should follow His example and His command. Do you want to obey Jesus Christ? Only when we follow Jesus' teachings, examples and instruction we will be able to experience what Father God had accomplish for us IN Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Jesus died as us. Everything Jesus did, we did IN Him. His death (cross), His burial (baptism), His resurrection (through the power of the Holy Spirit)

But what did Father God do through Christ for us at the Cross of Calvary?

Undertand the full Gospel. This is the full Gospel. That Father God had fully dealt with us IN Christ. He dealt with SIN and the SINNER.

1. Through the blood of Christ our sins our forgiven. Jesus' blood gives us right-standing before God. The only way to enter His Kingdom / heaven (The Blood deals with SIN)

2. Through the Cross of Christ the power of sin is broken. Leads to a victorious life as we die to our old nature of thinking and doing. (The Cross deals with the SINNER)

Do you WANT TO triumph IN Christ's victory at Calvary? (Col 2:14; 2 Cor 5:21)

When 'we cease' to follow human opinion, choosing to follow our role-model Jesus Christ through small steps of obedience we will experience a victorious Christian life - the life He died for us to have. If we follow Him, His victory becomes our victory! How? As we choose to 'die' to 'self', (the soul-life, nl. the mind, will and emotions), following Jesus' examples the Word (the truth John 8:31,21; Isa 61:1-3) will set us free.(revelational knowledge, Hebrews 4:12; 1 Cor 2:14; Isa 61:1-3) Only when 'we' cease, He can start. When we and obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8), Jesus Christ starts to live His life in and through us.As this happens, we become doers of the Word, bearing Christlike fruit, representing Him (Ambassadors)

 (Romans 6 ; Gal 2:20; Jam 1:22; Gal 5:22,23).

Our baptism

(And message or statement we sent out to the world)

Our water baptism (burial) follows after a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ (John 1:12), and is a response to God's Grace embodied in a act of obedience. It portrays a story of personal confession of death, burial and resurrection. It emphasize our own public crucifixion (death) as our old nature (in Adam + sin) is nailed to the Cross; our personal burial of the old man (the immersion in water), and our resurrection in our new nature (in Christ). The synopsis or statement is clear. We turn our back to the world as we repent (change our mind) and 'die' to the old man. After our funeral (baptism) we look at our Saviour Jesus Christ as we are raised out of the water in newness of life.(beholding) A complete exchange of life occurred. The message sent out to believers (as our witnesses) and the world tells without any uncertainty that as followers of Jesus Christ, - we must be displaced and replaced with Jesus Christ. It is a complete and Divine exchange!

Jesus commanded us to be baptized. "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name [singular] of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"
